Wailea, Maui, Hawaii – (June 17, 2019) The GOTTLING Gallery at The Shops at Wailea will host “Meet the Artists,” an interactive event that will feature live painting by internationally renowned artists residing on Maui. Featured painters include visual artist Khalilah Birdsong, whose abstract works explore issues of depth and line; creative duo Madeline and Peter Powell, who combine technical photorealism with whimsy to create colorful, nostalgic works; Wanda Russell, whose watercolors, oils and mixed media paintings radiate the vitality of weather, plants and landscapes; Lori Koprowski, whose dynamic original oil paintings created from oil sticks, brushes, and her own fingers celebrate the female form; and Susanne Stark, whose vibrant abstracts invoke her love of nature, beauty and music.

Each artist will create original paintings for the GOTTLING Gallery, live and in-person. Shopping center guests are invited to view the process while enjoying champagne and white wine at this public event. The created works will be available to purchase, with a portion of sales proceeds donated to Book Trust, an organization dedicated to providing local students the opportunity to select and own books of their choice and encouraging greater family engagement around literacy. Original pieces from the artists, exclusive to GOTTLING, will also be for sale at the event, while high end giclées of the works can be produced by GOTTLING for interested buyers.

“We are so honored to welcome these celebrated artists to GOTTLING Gallery for this extraordinary event,” said store owner and interior designer Karl Gottling. “The relationship between art and interior design is a symbiotic one. By working with artists to feature work that complements and enhances our curated home furnishings and accessories, it has been a natural growth opportunity to expand these partnerships and offerings. We designed this event to inspire and to be inspired, and we can’t wait to watch these artist works come to life.”
