Longhi’s at The Shops at Wailea To Host Benefit Dinner Honoring Flavors of Spain Maui Nō Ka ‘Oi Dinner Pays Tribute to Traditional Spanish Tapas

Wailea, Maui, Hawaii – (August 8, 2017) Longhi’s at The Shops at Wailea is pleased to announce their Maui Nō Ka ‘Oi dinner, “Tapas of Spain”, will be held Friday, August 11 at 7 p.m. The cost is $125 per person, plus tax and gratuity, and $25 will be given to the University of Hawaii-Maui culinary school. Dinner cost includes seven courses, some served family style and the opportunity for guests to try regional wines.

“We are so excited to host an evening filled with new tastes and flavors for our guests,” said Michael Rose, general manager of Longhi’s Wailea. “This dinner format will be slightly different than many of the other Nō Ka ‘Oi dinners since everything will be served family style with more interaction. It’s akin to what you might experience at a tapas bar in Spain.”

“Tapas of Spain” will feature a wine bar, staffed by Advanced Sommelier Charles Fredy and his team, with fourteen different hand-picked wines ranging from a 2010 Brut Cava to a dessert port with hints of fig and caramel. Each guest will be given a tasting sheet, as well as a wine map of Spain, and will be able to try ten of the wine offerings. Menu highlights include fresh seafood such as scallops, mussels, oysters and sea urchin as well as traditional Spanish dishes of pork Empanadas, Spanish tortillas, Paella made with New York Steak and for dessert, Panna Cotta and seasonal fruit.

During dinner, special guest, Victor Ordonez, will talk about the wines of his family’s portfolio. Victor’s father, Jorge Ordonez, was named as one of the twenty most important people in the world of wine by Robert Parker, a leading U.S. wine critic best known for his 100-point wine rating scale and newsletter, The Wine Advocate.
